Bremelanotide vs Kisspeptin

Bremelanotide has Phase III HSDD outcome evidence; kisspeptin has smaller mechanistic HSDD studies and reproductive-medicine research.

At a glance
Bremelanotide
Kisspeptin
Human evidence
Two Phase III RECONNECT trials support bremelanotide for acquired generalized HSDD in premenopausal women. Older intranasal studies also reported male ED signals, but that is not the approved indication.
Controlled human studies demonstrate reproductive-hormone effects, oocyte-maturation triggering in specialist IVF settings, and acute sexual/emotional brain-processing effects in small randomized HSDD studies in men and women. Long-term HSDD efficacy is not established.
Research focus
Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD)
Reproductive endocrinology, fertility, psychosexual research
Regulatory status
U.S. Vyleesi is approved for acquired generalized HSDD in premenopausal women; it is not indicated for men or to enhance sexual performance.
No general FDA-approved kisspeptin therapy identified.
Route / formulation
Research-market PT-141 is not automatically equivalent to the authorised Vyleesi product.
Evidence differs between kisspeptin-10 and kisspeptin-54 and between IV and other routes.
No head-to-head outcome trial Bremelanotide has Phase III HSDD outcome evidence; kisspeptin has smaller mechanistic HSDD studies and reproductive-medicine research.
